Headcoach Elizabeth Burris, USA, Age 25


2005 will be the First Year for Burris as the Sharx Headcoach.
Currently she finished her third season as the top assistant coach to David Deiros at Florida Gulf Coast University. Her responsibilities include conditioning, working with catchers and outfielders, monitoring academics, and community involvement. Prior to joining the staff at FGCU, she was the junior varsity coach at Central Cabarris High ofNorth Carolina in 2002 where the team posted a 14-0 record. She also assisted with an 18-year old and under fast-pitch team in North Carolina for three summers. Burris played four seasons as a catcher and outfielder for Division I University of North Carolina at Charlotte. A Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection during her playing career, she posted a 3.7 grade point average and graduated with Cum Laude honors. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in religion. A native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Burris is pursuing a master’s degree in counseling at FGCU.

Spielte acht Jahre lang für die Sharx, bevor sie im Herbst 2000 ihre aktive Karriere beendete. In dieser Saison wurde sie auch MVP der Bundesliga.
Seit 1.1.2001 gehört sie zum Trainerteam der Sharx und ist vorallem für den Athletic- und Konditionsbereich zuständig..

Arena ist seit 1998 als Pitching Instructor für das Team tätig und begleitete das Team zu den Europacupbewerben 1999 2000, 2002 und 2003
Since 1998 is Arena Pitching Instructor for the Sharx. He was the teams Pitching Coach at the Europeancup Competitons in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2004, where the sharx got a bronze medal in the a-pool.

Assistant Coach Michael Schmidt, Austria, Age 34

Schmidt war von 1994 bis 1998 Headcoach der Sharx. Unter ihm gelang der Aufstieg in die Bundesliga 1995. 1998 wurde er mit dem Team Cupsieger und österreichischer Vizemeister.

Coached the Saskatoon Champs to a silver medal at the Western Canadian Championship and to a 4th place finish at the 1998 World Master’s Games in Portland.
Pitcher/Catcher coach on Saskatchewan’s 2001 Canada Games Team.
Counselled, assisted and encouraged numerous club coaches.
Conducted coaching clinic in Belize, Central America, for the International Softball Federation (1998) on behalf of Softball Canada.
